Janice is a 75-year-old woman who has been able to utilize our Senior Farmers' Market for 3 years.  Janice was born in Fort Wayne, IN but was raised in Ossian.  She was married in 1967 at the age of 19 and moved to Ohio where she has lived ever since.  She has 2 children, and 6 grandchildren.  Janice and her husband have also raised 2 out of 6 grandchildren.

Janice is retired from Pandora Gilboa schools where she worked as a Human Resource Supervisor.  Janice is active in the Pandora Methodist Church where she is part of the church choir, and where she is also a part of a group called Mat Makers. Mat Makers use cut up plastic bags to make mats, that are used for door entrances and in sleeping bags (for the bags to be more cushioned) and to donate to local agencies.  Janice has a special friend in her life that she travels with quite often.

Janice first heard about the Senior Farmers' Market through the Putnam County Council on Aging.  She lives alone and thought it would be a great way to supplement her grocery bill, especially with the rising prices of fruit and vegetables.  She was not someone who was able to grow a garden, so when this program caught her eye, she felt very blessed to be able to utilize it right away. She loves going to the Swiss County Market and Cherry’s, as she feels they have the best selection.

She shares this program with so many others and feels that it helps senior citizens who are also on fixed incomes receive free and Ohio homegrown items is beyond a blessing.  Janice is very thankful for the Area Agency on Aging 3 employees who have always been kind!
